Reflections-What Can We Learn?

We watched the following videos Week 2 and took notes while we watched, so pull those out:

I expect a thorough response for each part. I also expect solid mechanics and fluency, so proofread your work please. See prompts below:

For the first three, I would like you to pick two videos that resonated with you the most and for each one, give a reflection on what points/ideas stood out to you (you must have at least 3) and connect/question, challenge/give your commentary on what YOU think. What do you see these videos teaching? Why do they matter? what can you learn and how do YOU think about what they purvey?

For Danny Macaskill, I would like you to answer the following prompt, considering why you think I show this video to you: What can Danny's riding teach us about ourselves and how we learn and do things in our own lives? How might his skills transfer into our own resolve to go after the things we are passionate about?

  1. In If You Want to Change the World and Dear future generation sorry it connected to me because in if you want to change the world he talks about how even though the smallest people would get made fun of alot they still worked hard and were better than everybody, and he talked about how in their training they had to sit in mud for a couple of hours and then at some point during the coldness they all started to sing and soon they didn't even notice the cold. In Dear future generation sorry he talks about how all the pollution we've created is destroying the environment and the next generation is not going to have anywhere close to the same nature as us. In If You Want to Change the world they teach about how working as a team can help you get more done. And in Dear Future Generation Sorry they teach that if we don't do anything now the pollution will kill the world. I think you showed us the Danny Macaskill video because at the beginning he kept failing and then towards the end he kept trying and he got it to work. This works for things we are passionate about because if you keep trying you will be able to do it.

  2. I think that Can We Autocorrect Humanity resonated with me the most because I am on my phone a lot more than I should. I understand all those terms and all those situations with my phone. I talk to people a lot on social media and games a lot compared to in person and I want to change that. Dear Future Generations connects with me second most because I like the world. I want to live a long time and if we keep cutting down trees that won't happen. We need to stop polluting the earth with all these chemicals and waste that are put into the air. That's the stuff that makes life so unfair. We need to learn from these videos by not being on our technology so much and just go outside and hangout with friends or just take a walk. Play with your dogs and do all sorts of things that will make this world a better place. We need clean air to live and we need lots of it. The more trees we cut down and the more we pollute, the less long we will live.

You show us this video because you want us to see how he keeps trying and working at something until he gets it. Danny Macaskill is teaching us that we need to keep trying and don't give up. If we keep working at something, we will get it done and we will know how to do it better. He keeps trying and practicing biking and he is really good. If we keep trying and practicing subjects, we will get good at those too. If we keep trying and practicing what we love, we can become really good at it and maybe become pro like Danny.

  3. Dear Future Generations: Sorry is a video that is essentially apologizing to future generations for the things that we have done today. One point that stood out to me was how he said that today all of the trees are gone. This happened because we cut them all down, and we didn't stop and think about what would happen when they are all gone. Something else that was talked about was how people today never stop, and think about tomorrow. This means that a lot of people today aren't thinking about what cutting down all the trees will do, or how burning fossil fuels might just effect tomorrow. One more thing that happened was that he addressed the problem with fossil fuels. When we burn fossil fuels, the environment is greatly affected. If we never stop and think about what will happen, eventually the atmosphere will be gone. This video really made me think about how my choices today will impact tomorrow. It also made me question myself. I wondered if there was anyway that I could help? Could I cut down fossil fuel emissions? Could I just stop and think? Another video we watched was If You Want To Change the World. This video had a someone from the United States Marine talking about we can change the world. He starts by saying that each morning you should wake up, and make your bed. It only takes one small thing to change the world, and all you have to do is start each morning by making your bed. All of these small things will pile up, until you have done something big. He also talks about the night swim, and how there are sharks that you will have to look out for. He says don't turn away from the shark. You have to stand your ground and punch it in the nose. I feel like this is a metaphor for that if you don't do anything to try to change the world, you will never change the world. He also talks about how the power of one person can change the world. It doesn't matter how old you are or how tall you are. Anyone can change the world. I feel like this video is very motivational, and that it inspires me to go out and do something. The Danny Macaskill video is a video of him just doing a bunch of cool bike tricks. I think this video can teach us about ourselves because we saw these amazing things that he could do, and it made me think someday I could do something like that. I think this shows that if we are passionate about something, and we put our mind to it. We can do almost anything.

  4. Two videos that resonated with me the most would include Dear Future Generations: Sorry and Can We Autocorrect Humanity? Dear Future Generations: Sorry made many points stand out to me. I found it interesting how the video discussed pollution, the trees, and how it emphasized that problems can be denied but not avoided. Why do people seem to care less about pollution, trees, and overall the Earth less than other trivial matters. Also, why must people try to avoid their problems instead of facing them head on. I think people try and put their problems aside because it is too much to deal with, and too large of a task to tackle, so overtime it ends up being passed on to new people. This video teaches both this generation, and future generations what is going on in the world, and how we need to face our problems, not pass it on to the next set of people. This video topic is extremely important for future generations to live a better, worry free life. I think the subject matter is an extremely important issue, and wish to help clean up the world for the people after me. It is an extremely inspiring video.

Can We Autocorrect Humanity also has a large impact on me. The fact that people are more selfish than ever, technology is taking over the world, and media overstimulation stand out to me. Why is technology taking over in every area?, How is it making people more selfish?, and Why are people so reliant on technology nowadays?. Technology is spreading throughout the world. It makes everyday life easier weather its from finding information for school, to being a source of entertainment. It is an extremely useful tool for everyday life. This video teaches people about the reality of the world we live in, and how it has affected humanity. This matters because it is our world, it is us, it is what we are going through and experiencing right now, it opens people's eyes to the world they live in. This video portrays our everyday life in an extraordinary way. I think the video discussed what life is like in a realistic way and it is extremely helpful to realizing what kind of a world we live in and the direction we are headed towards.

Danny Macaskill’s bike video showed me a lot. I think this video was shown to the class to inspire us, and to show us that if we put our hearts to it, and work hard we can achieve great things. Danny’s riding can teach us about how we work hard and therefore can, and do excel at what we work on. It shows us that a little inspiration can go a long way. His skills create a spark in us to be inspired to climb to new and extraordinary heights. It makes us want to work harder at what we love, and become great.

  5. The two videos that resonated with me the most were the Can We Auto correct Humanity and Dear Future Generations; Sorry. Can We Auto Correct Humanity resonated with me because it was the brutal and honest truth and I felt that I could relate to some of it. It was very true about how people rely on technology to find things like self worth and value rather than real life experiences. Prince Ea stated how many people would rather be on their phones talking to people that might not exist rather than going out and making real friends . I cannot say that I feel the same way as in I'd rather have friends online rather than in real life but for many it is true and that felt very relate-able for me. Another thing he stated is how we associate the amount of likes we get with self worth and popularity and I can honestly say I have and sometimes do feel that way. I feel that him pointing it our really brought light to that truth and is helping me see where I need to improve. The third thing he said that really resonated with me was that we need to go outside and open up and stop using technology as a shield. I feel like in saying that he was trying to relay the message that the human race is scared to open up so instead we use what could be a resource as a way to protect ourselves and I feel that one that needs to be changed. One question I have is why do humans do this. Is it because we are scared to open up in person or is it because we are too lazy? Prince stated that he thought it was because we are too lazy but I think it is because we are scared of rejection. The second video resonated with me strongly because it focused on world pollution and what we have done to our earth along with reasoning behind it. I felt that this resonated the most because I am passionate about keeping our environment clean and i feel that Prince Ea did a great job of inspiring people to change. Three things he stated were that trees are being cut down for money, icecaps are melting causing many weather changes, and that we are polluting the ocean with trash. These all three were very true and it was sad seeing all the things we've done to our home. Another thing that really made me think was when he mentioned that we are so focused on going to space rather than caring about what we have. Videos like these matter because they convey the truth in the form of entertainment. Personally it is much more fun to see these ideas conveyed through a song/video format rather than reading. I feel that the appeal of these videos help convey the also strong message which is important because we need to be more aware of these issues such as world pollution and social media influence. It is important to get the message across in what ever way is effective because this is our tomorrow and we need to be in charge of what happens.

I think you showed us the video because you wanted to show that everyone fails and that if you keep trying you will get it right. The video could teach us that we need to try hard and even the pros fail and to learn that in your own life the more you practice the better you'll get. Danny was clearly passionate about biking so much that he pushed him self to his goals even if he failed and that might transfer to our lives by saying to go for what you love and put in the effort because it will pay off.

  6. Dear Future Generations connected with me because we really don’t realise what we have, until it’s gone. We need to make some changes, or else we will have to watch our earth diminish. There are definitely plenty things we can do about this, we just need to start. Why haven’t many people with authority, tried to start a movement? Why won’t people do the little things that make a huge difference to this planet? Also, Can We Autocorrect Humanity resonated with me, because we like to spend most of our time on our phones, and not around others. It’s so much easier to connect with others on our devices, but much more meaningful to connect in person. It’s very sad that some of us base our self worth on a number from a device. Why can’t we just find the happy medium with our devices and others? How much time does the average person spend on their phone in a week?Danny Macaskill’s riding shows us that each of us has a passion. In order to pursue that passion, we need to work hard to be able to make a living off it. Working hard, enables many options for your future. You will have many opportunities and a better life if you learn to give your goals all of your focus.

  7. In the first video, the man talks about how the future generation will be ruined because of our mistakes. They won't have the things that we had because of our mistakes. He makes many good points about what we have done that will cost us in the future. I also like the way he talks, because he is up in your face, so that you will hear his point. In the second video, If you want to change the world, he is saying that something so small like making your bed can lead to something so big. He also talks about how you need to be strong. Something you do everyday can lead to something very big. Finally, for Danny Macaskill, he shows many great things. If at first you don't succeed, try again. He tries over and over again, and when he finally gets it, he moves on to something bigger. His biking skills can transfer over to our everyday skills because if you can't get something done in one try, keep going. Be passionate about what you do in life, and keep going and trying.

  8. Last week when we watched videos, Dear Future Generations: Sorry and Can We Autocorrect Humanity stood out to me the most. In Dear Future Generations it really put things into perspective for me, as they explained how we're slowly taking our oxygen and life away from us as we cut and burn down trees. They said in the video that error does not become a mistake, we can fix what we're slowly killing. The Native Americans had so much consideration for us and our life, but we're slowly destroying what we could be fixing. I believe that everything that was said in the video is true and is a huge issue that generation "z" needs to be fixing. The second video, Can We Autocorrect Humanity is giving us reasons to why we're seeing right through these problems. The life of our screen and social media is taking us away from living in the present and finding life threatening issues outside of the screen as us humans spend an average of 4 years staring at a screen. We're slowly killing our brain cells while our attention span gets slower and slower, with an average adult attention span being one second slower than a goldfish. I think that for a second we need to look around and see what we're really doing with this world and our lives instead of putting it all behind and polluting the world around us. I learned that we really do need to step up, put our screens down, and help save ourselves.

  9. The two videos I think resonated with me the most were, "Dear Future Generations: Sorry", and "If You Want to Change the World". I think "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" really impacted me because in the video he talked about everything wrong we have done, how much we messed up the planet for future generations. But after that, he started talking about how we can't give up and we can still fix our mistakes. I think that meant exactly what it said but also that you should never give up and you can always try to be better and do better. To me, this video gave me hope and also inspired me. All in all, it was a very powerful video. It made me think a lot about what I could do better, even if it's just a small thing. "If You Want to Change the World" was such an inspiring video it made me wanna go try something new even if it would be hard. In the video, one thing that really stood out to me was when he was telling the story about the soldiers in the cold muddy water and how one person started singing which gave the others the courage to keep going and soon enough they were all singing. What that means to me is one person can make a huge difference whether it's something big or small like singing to help you keep going and never give up. It also means that you should never give up cause if you do you won't be able to accomplish anything. I think both of these videos were very powerful and inspire people to never give up.

  10. There were two videos that really stood out to me, these being "Can We Autocorrect Humanity?" and "If You Want to Change the World..." On the first video one thing that really stood out to me was that the average person spends about four years on their phone, to be honest I would think that it would be higher, because a lot of people are on their phones 24/7 so i would think it would be more like 25 years of an 90 year old. Another thing that I questioned was that social media hurts peoples lives, I don't agree with that because I am on social media a lot and I am very social i would think more if you are gaming in your basement by yourself then you are more prone to not being as social. When I am on my phone I am most always am texting my friends so I don't think that it affects peoples social lives all that much. When Prince EA said, "Imagine a world where people smiled when the have low batteries." I really thought about what the world would be like without cell phones because you can't really do much on your phone when its at 1%. I think that you showed us these videos so that we would think about how much we really use our phones and to help us to not use them as much. The other video that really stood out to me was If You Want to Change the World... this one really stood out to me because that man who was saying all the stuff has been through a lot in his life. One part that really stood out to me in this video was when he said that when he was going through training for their last mission they had to go in freezing cold mud all night and then they started singing and that really made it easier for them to go into the mud he said. The reason why this really stood out to me is because if you have people to lift you up in life then it is easier to do. Say that you had to go do something scary, you always want to bring a friend with you, because it makes it easier. I really liked this video because it taught me a lot about friendship in tough times.

I think why you showed us this video was to show us that if we don't succeed the first time to try and try again until you can do it, because if you stop trying then you will always fail 100% of the time so I thought that it was to teach us not to stop trying if we don't get it on the first time.

  11. For my first choice I pick "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" I think this one really spoke to me mostly because he's already predicting the future because he knows humans are hard to stop from creating our own destruction, the reason that says something to me is because that means our fate and the rest of the worlds fate is already decided. Now because of all the pollution circling around our environment and the fact that humans don't realize that killing our main source of oxygen is straight up stupid he obviously believes that the human race and the rest of the world is going to come to an end. I think that these videos are meant to show us the path we are taking and that if we don't figure out how to fix it like said in "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" there will be a amazon desert in not to long. The second video that really spoke to me was " If you Want to Change the World..." This one spoke to me because it's basically saying if you want to change start every day with a simple accomplishment such as making your bed in the morning, because good habits always lead to good things and new accomplishments. You showed us the Danny Macaskill video because Danny was obviously trying to show us that repeated failure leads to succeeding, In the second video it was all about the beauty of the world we now live in and need to protect. The reason I believe this is because he was climbing a mountain using only his bike while giving us amazing views of the landscape.

  12. Two videos that stuck with me were the Dear Future Generations: Sorry and If you want to change the world... . I think that the Dear Future Generations: Sorry stuck with me because I think that Prince Ea (Richard Williams) is a very powerful speaker/poet in the way that he makes you feel like you can pick up all the pollution/trash. To pick up all the trash in the world you would need a lot more people like everyone in the world doing it could fix it. He was basically saying sorry to people that are being born now. They will potentially not get so see forests or oceans. Forests are being torn down at the rate of one football field a minute and oceans get billions of pounds of trash thrown in them every year, people that will be born in a hundred years or so will be screwed if these rates keep up. Now for the video If You Want to Change the World... he is a marine that tells you that one basic step can help you achieve so much. The one step being making your bed. You get a small sense of pride that helps you do one thing then another thing and so on and that is how he says you can start by making your bed. I think that the way he presents his message is very well sequenced, for instance he proves his point by talking about how they would make fun of the small people every time for their size, but when they went out on the boats the small people would win every time because they worked together so well and worked so fast. I think with that he was trying to make the point that anyone could change the world if they put their minds to it and had a passion. Then he talked about when he was in the cold mud with all those people and then one person started singing and that provoked one more to sing then another and another and suddenly everyone was singing and the mud in the dead of the night was suddenly warmer. So I think that both of the videos tell you about how you can do things with numbers and how it can help to have mental support, I think that this tells you about how people can work together and achieve large things if they are passionate about fixing things weather it be pollution or your bed you can fix something in the world. For Danny macaskill I think he is very skilled and has a big passion for riding bikes. He can scale mountains with his bike and its his job to just advertise for red bull and ride his bike around and I think that that's pretty cool. This shows you that you can do what you love for an occupation and that its possible to extend out of what you thought you could do. Even though all the videos taught me something different those were the ones that stuck out the most.

  13. Two Videos

The first and last one stood out to me. The first one was important because it had great information, like how the rainforest is now a desert because of other generations. Also It stood out because it was directed towards generation Z and it had more meaning. It also was important because of its power to move people. The last one stood out to me because it has good information about how doing one simple thing impacts you and others. It also had a very touching story about seeing what he saw and the feeling of seeing his kids again. He also talked about how if we simply do one thing that it leads to another and another and another and soon it will all build up and you feel good about yourself.

    Danny Macaskill

I think this video was shown to us because of Its inspiring factor, it was very touching about how passion can help you accomplish what you want. It also had the factor of woah in it, like doing flips and crazy tricks but then you remember that he fell practicing he fell a ton. He got back up he tried and tried again then success! with our everyday life this teaches us about how when you fail or do bad there will be good there will be light at the end of the tunnel. It's the passion that makes us do what we want to do and succeed. Passion is apart of what drives us to success.

  14. The video that resonated with me the most was Can We Autocorrect Humanity? because I feel like it kind of related to me the most. What really shocked me was when he said we now have an attention span that is one second less than a goldfish. That is so crazy to me, we've changed and adapted so much to our modern world, which can be a really good thing, but part of it is SO negative as well. What I really got from the video was that we need to make our own decisions. As a society, we tend to follow others and have little originality. Once we break away from those standards, we can create bigger things and expand ourselves more. We can better society. I feel like this video related to me the most because I tend to be on my phone a lot more than I probably should be. It's just how I've trained myself, and sometimes it does become a serious issue. That's one of the reasons I love traveling so much. A point in the video was that we often don't pay attention to what's "real" in our world, and that we need to stop and look around. I feel like traveling really does that for me. I take a break from my phone and everything and just embrace the world around me. These videos do matter, they give us the reality checks we need. But, I feel like people don't get what they should out of them. People don't care enough. To better our whole society, it's going to take a lot more effort than we think. There's so much ignorance that we need to overcome.

A big point I think the Danny Macaskill videos are making is to take the road less travel by. Break the rules. Do what's good for your soul. I feel like we could all lean from these a little bit. I feel like a lot of times things in our lives get built up. Things just keep adding and adding on until the point nothing is fun anymore. There are so many rules and societal expectations to live up to all the time, it gets exhausting. Sometimes we feel like we have to be this person that everyone expects us to, or follow a certain career path or live a certain way. But sometimes, in the bigger picture, why would it matter. Why would you not do what you wanna do? This is all cliche, but it's your own life. If you live your whole life for other people, you're going to get lost. It's about finding passion. Wanting things, bad. Really, if you're that excited about something, what can honestly stop you? Danny Macaskill is following his dream, he's doing what he really loves. In reality, what is REALLY stopping us from doing the same?

  15. For the video, If you want to change the world, stood out to me because of these three points; to start with the little things in life to accomplish the big things, to not judge someone by what's on the outside but what's on the inside, and to have strength when you have to face the "sharks" in life. The first he made was to start with the little things in life to accomplish the bigger things. He explain that making your bed should be the first task of the day, because if you can accomplish that you will have motivation to do the little things that require more work. He says that if you can't do the little things you will never be able to accomplish the bigger things. His second point was to not judge people by their physical looks or size on the outside but how big their heart is on the inside. He explained that when he was in the army, they had to paddle through really big waves and that most the guys would crash or their boat would tip, butth littlest guys were in the lead of everyone and they had the most power. His point is to not judge someone by their size but by the size of their heart. My last point that stood out to me is when he said that his troops and him had to swim through waters in the ocean that had sharks. They do that after they inform you about all the different types of sharks that live in that part of the ocean. But they taught him that if you ever come across a shark to stand your ground and punch it in the nose. He compared that to bullies and mean people in life today, because you can't just be scared of the and let them bully you because, you need to stand your ground.

The video,Can We Autocorrect Humanity, stood out to me because of these three points; We are losing touch because of social media, peoples ideas of talking is talking on the phone, and that human have an attention span less than a goldfish. The first point that he made was that we are losing touch because of social media. He explains that we are on our phones so much that we are missing important things and that talking on social media is a lot different than talking in person, so even though we are talking on social media we are not talking face to face. His next point was that people's idea of talking is through our phones. phones are very helpful bt can also be too helpful in a way that phones are good at helping people lose touch. My last point that stood out to me, that he made was that we have an attention span less than a goldfish. Again, going back to social media, it is because of that that our society is so selfish and that we cant have an attention span better than that of a goldfish.

For the video by Danny Macaskill, Danny's talent has taken a lot of work and it seems like it hasn't taken a lot of work because he's flawless. It proves that anyone can be great at anything if they put their mind to it and think they can and have the will power. He also proves that he has had failures and that from those he can learn and be flawless. And that anyone can get better at what they do but there will be mistakes.

  16. The video that I resonated with the most is, "Dear Future Generations: Sorry." What shocked me the most while watching the video is how almost everything he was saying is true or could be true if we continued on the path we were on. Which is a very scary thought to many people. I also liked that at the end of the video he said if we changed how things are we could change the turnout. He gave us hope and the future generations hope. When he talked about us cutting down trees and using it to make money, it showed the greed that we have. He also said what is destruction we say is progress. He mentioned that we were focusing on the wrong things. Like equalism and rights when none of that will matter if we don't save the planet. All these things are true, but we can change the future.
The next video I resonated with the most is, "Can We Autocorrect Humanity?" This video is also a very honest representation of our world today. This video has to do with technology and the negative affect it is playing in our lives. Something that really surprised me is how long the average human spends on their phone in one day, which is just 4 hours looking down at your phone. The next fact that I had trouble settling with is that the average adult has an attention span 1 second less than a goldfish. Think about that. We have created and invented so much in this world yet we have a smaller attention span than a goldfish. These videos teach us that we should not let these little devices control our lives and control how we interact and live our own lives. The question that we should be asking ourselves is not, "What other devices can be made to make our lives easier?" but, "Why do we continue to negatively impact ourselves like this, when we can spend less time on technology and more time in civilization?"
Danny Macaskill and his bike riding can show us that we can do anything if we put our mind to it. The first video you showed us showed him trying to get on the railing and he wouldn't give up. He tried and tried and tried and by the end of the video he got it. Then you showed us the other video where he was advertising for Red Bull on a huge mountain and doing something that most people would be terrified to do. This video shows most people what they are capable of if you are passionate about it.
From these three videos we could all gain self control on what the right thing is and what the wrong thing is for this earth and for the future. We could all also gain a little passion and motivation.

  17. These past few weeks we watched many videos and wrote down important details and what the video taught us and I felt I really connected with two of the videos "Dear future generations: Im sorry" and " inspired bicycle". I connected with "Dear future generations: I'm sorry" because it really hit me hard thinking about how lucky we are today and how much we really have but don't appreciate and within years that could all be gone because we take it for granted and we continue to just think about ourselves and not think that what we are doing saying its "helping and making it easier to live" is actually impacting the environment and making everything worse. Future generations might not have what we do now like trees and forests the one thing we need to be able to live. He spoke so much truth about how so many of us take money over happiness because with money you can "buy it" right? Noto to me you can't. I was taught from a young age to not litter and take care of the environment, its funny because it doesn't matter if its a random person my friend if they drop trash and keep walking I will grab it and wait until i can throw it away or recycle it because I really do think a lot of us don't understand how important it really is to take care of the tiniest things even if its picking up some gum wrapper your still helping. and that's not fair in my mind. The other video we watched was inspired bicycles" and it really just looked like a normal video until you look further into it and see the reason it put all his fails in and then his accomplishments. The guy who made this video shows him continuing to mess up a hard skill he is trying to learn but he doesn't give up and continues to try to get it even when he is not succeeding hundreds of times but he continues to do it because he believed he could and he didn't let himself think other wise and to me that important because I feel like so many people give up when they don't get the things they have been working for but they don't realize it just needs a little more work and they are so close. During my years of gymnastics I remember i would look at other girls doing fulls or layouts while i'm learning to do tucks and to me I felt It wasn't necessary to try because I wouldn't get it but I never realized that those girls didn't wake up one day and have those skills they worked for them and I had to do the same and this video really reminded me of when I would compare myself and what I went through and still do with those sports.

  18. While watching the three videos, "Dear Future Generations, Sorry", and "Can We Autocorrect Humanity?", stood out to me the most. They both have the same main topic which is how we need to improve how we live, but the side points are very different in each video. In "Dear Future Generations, Sorry" the main ideas that stood out to me are, we do everything for money nowadays, future generations will not have what we have today, and also when he talked about how different our kids lives will be. Our generation does so much and we all do it for money. We tear down trees for money, we kill animals for money, and much more, all for money. Which brings me to the point of that our future generations will not have what we have. The trees will all be gone, the oceans will be polluted, the wildlife will be gone, etc. The world will be so different and everyone will be living so different if we keep treating our earth this way. It wouldn't be fair to our kids to make them live this way and live so differently than we did. Who knows maybe in a few years our whole populations will have to wear a mask just to go outside because of all the chemicals in the air. The next generations will have to live in such a boring and ugly world because of what we are doing to it. "Can we Autocorrect Humanity" also stood out to me for some of the same reasons. We live our lives right now glued to our phones. The main points that stood out to me the most are how we are in a schedule because of social media, social media has made people more antisocial than social, and all we care about are likes and followers. I personally feel like I always have to check and keep up to date with social media or I will miss out and that is really hard because I then feel like I am always on it. Which bring me to how it can make more of an antisocial impact because the way we use it is to post pictures with people and what we did which could make you really sad if you weren't invited but still see that post. Also when you are with friends it is bad because a lot of times you are just sitting on your phone and texting or snap chatting. I also feel like you almost compete with your friend to see who can get the most followers or likes because that is all we care about. People are constantly on their phones looking at the followers and how they compare to other people. Both articles were really impactful to me and made me think about how I live in this generation and how I can change that.

The video on Danny Macaskill was a very interesting and motivating video. He was a very determined biker and no matter how many times he failed on something he would get back up and try it again until he succeeded. It showed all the risks he was willing to take until he finally had a dream come true. He was so passionate about biking that he managed to create a passion off it it and travel the world to do what he loves which is so inspiring. The video had many different themes and motivational parts of it that makes people want to keep going and pursue hat they love. I feel like Macaskill has a very open mind towards doing things which allows him to learn quickly and more efficiently which I can transfer into my own life. This was a very inspiring video to watch.

  19. The two videos that stood out to me the most were Dear Future Generations: Sorry, and, If You Want To Change the World. Dear Future Generations: Sorry stood out for me a lot because it talked about all the things that we take for granted, like clean water, that will no longer exist if we keep up our destructive habits. I also thought about many problems that we have concerning cutting trees down by the millions and not replanting them all for money. The biggest thing that inspired me in the video was how Prince Ea rattled off about how many species have become extinct because e did not take care of them and destroyed them. One question I had is why do we cut down so many trees and do not replace them with new trees that can grow big again? This video is teaching us that we need to become better at making sure our environment as well, so that future generations can live in a world as pretty as it is now. It also teaches the viewer that we are not doing enough to keep the environment clean and in good condition. I can learn from this video to try to conserve and not waste precious materials that we use to take for granted. I think that the video conveys to the viewers that we need to become a better world and not waste which is very important.

The Video If You Want To Change the World resonated with me because William McRaven started off with how to change the world you start by making your bed. He goes on to say how the one decision to make your bed can affect the outcome of the day and how you live it. Another thing William McRaven's stories that stood out to me was when he talked about his Navy Seal and the munchkin boat crew which was faster, stronger, and outran all the other boat crews. One thing I can relate to this video is although someone may look small and not very strong they sometimes are stronger and faster than the people who look big in demeanor. I think that this video is very inspiring on how if you want to change something it takes a lot of hard work to do it. This video teaches any things but the one I like so much is when William McRaven says, "If you want to change the world you have to do the small things right in order to do the big things right." you can learn a lot from this quote alone because it teaches you-you can do the big things done if you do the small things. This video purveys that hard work and getting things done even if they are small are very important.

I THink we watched the Danny Macaskill video because it showed that things that you think would be impossible to do become a reality with hard work and determination. Danny Macaskill riding his bike the way he does teaches us many things about ourselves like perseverance through hard things and hard work in order to complete something that takes a lot of skill. His skills teach us that if we are very passionate about something we can do it and make money doing it if you are a hard worker and you try your best.

  20. In the video "Dear Future Generations, Sorry" by Prince Ea, he is very motivational and brings up many real points in his speaking about how we need to change the world. One f my favorite lines he says in the whole video is, "because whatever you're fighting for racism or poverty feminism or gay rights or any type of equality it won't matter in the least, because if we don't work together to save the environment, we will equally be extinct." He also explained that an error does not become a mistake until we choose not to correct it which applies to many things in life and not just helping save the environment. Even though these points are incredibly motivational and make me want to do something about an issue, the most influential part of a video i've seen in a long time was the navy admiral explaining the importance of making your bed. He states that if you make your bed every single morning, it will give you a sense of accomplishment that will help motivate you to do more little things throughout your day. In Fact, since I have watched that speech he gave, my bed has been made every single day.

    Prompt 2:
Danny Macaskill is a very talented bike rider that now is sponsored by redbull for his incredible biking he can do. One of the best things about him and some of his videos is that his ticks and style are not like most bikers. He finds features in the city like stair and brick walls instead of man-made jumps or flying down a mountain. This could relate to how some people feel about themselves. Instead of embracing their style, they will try and do things that is more popular that they might not be as good at. Danny also turned his passion into a profession which many people say they wanna do, but don't wanna work for it. He is now sponsored by redbull who pays hi to travel the world and do what he loves just because he worked for it and followed a dream. That sounds pretty cool to me.

  21. The two videos that resonated with me the most were the Dear Future Generations: Sorry, and If You Want to Change the World. I liked the Dear Future Generations: Sorry because it really is good at explaining that people need to do something so that our environment doesn't die off. Things that stood out to me was the way he kept talking about trees and that soon great green forests will turn into deserts. The rhythm is also what caught my attention he is making the tune catchy to appeal to younger viewers so he probably wants us to do something about it. He also makes it in a way that we are supposed to care about what happens, it really tugs on my heart strings. I think that this is just telling us we need to be more careful about what we put in the environment. also, that little things matter.
The second video that I enjoyed was If You Want to Change the World. One of the first things he says is, "If you want to change the world start by making your bed." This caught my attention because it is such a trivial thing that people don't think makes an impact. He is saying though that if you make your bed in the morning then you will have accomplished something for the day. Even if it is something small it doesn't matter you still accomplished it and I thought that was really cool. Another thing, I remembered other than the bed, was the part when he talked about his navy seal training and when he was in the boat race and the one team that would always win would be the team of really short people I thought that was funny because people would usually think they would come in last, but despite this they showed they were more than a people thought. I thought that was really cool because it proves people can do anything if they put there mind to it. The third thing I found shocking was the fact that when they were in the dirt and were freezing cold they started to sing. That is not something I would think of when I think of people being stuck in the freezing cold all night. That is exactly what they did even though they were in the most harsh conditions ever they were able to make it better through song. I think this is really cool because I myself love to sing and to hear how it helped people makes me happy.
Danny Macaskill is a really extraordinary person who in life gets to travel around the world and do what he is most passionate about. I think that first of all what he can do on the bike is incredible. I think that it teaches us that if you want something in life you have to work for it. Also, that your dreams are possible. I think is just as encouraging as it is entertaining. I also liked that he showed in one of his videos that he isn't perfect because he didn't make the trick on the first try. But he still tried until he did. I feel that this puts him in more of a personal level but still shows that you can accomplish anything if you try. I am sure he wasn't born being able to do all these amazing tricks, he had to learn them. I think that is really cool.

  22. After watching the videos Dear Future Generations: Sorry, Can We Autocorrect Humanity?, If You Want to Change the World, and “Inspired Bicycles”, it is obvious that each video demonstrates it's own set of lessons. The video, Dear Future Generations: Sorry really resonated with me, because the video protracted a dark future for future generations. The key point of this video was that we as people will not have a nice place to life if we continue to treat the earth like an unlimited resource. This video matters because it puts the gives Global Warming, and polluting in general into the prospective of future generations. The format of this video also stood out because it used rap and current culture into the statement, because it helps relate to the viewer. The video, If You Want to Change the World, also was very inspiring to me. This video was interesting, because it took the small task of making your bed, and blew it up by showing how starting small is what allows you to grow. This video taught me that you can make a difference by just starting to become the change that you wan't to see. The ideas this video conveyed stood out to me, because they made me think about what change I wanted to start in the world. These videos where truly wake up calls to me, and taught me very valuable lessons.

While watching the video, Danny Macaskill- “Inspired Bicycles”, I realized that you can do anything you want with hard work, and a big enough drive to succeed. This video teaches us that you can do what you want if you make it something that is necessary. Dan demonstrates this by making biking an art-form and a career. The tricks he does take quiet a bit of trial and error along with work to pull off. He is able to do these tricks and live the lifestyle he does by putting in the hard work, so he can do what he wants. Danny Macaskill is a clear example of what you can do with hard work and enough drive, he serves as an example to all as to what you can become.

  23. In the video "If You Want Change the World , Start Off by making your bed," is a hopeful and resonates with everyone. The first thing that the admiral is that "If you want to and the would start off making your bed." and he continues on saying that start each day with a task you can complete, so it encourages to do more. This stood out because a simple task can have such a big effect to yourself and others. The story of the of the munchkin crew, of how they out-swam, outran, out paddled the taller boat crews. The point of this story and why is stood out is no mater the education, ethic background, color, size or social status everyone will succeed in some way. And judge a person not by their size, but the size of their hearts. The night at the mudflats were the SEALS where that one voice began out in song and everyone joined in it somehow made the mud a little warmer. The reason this story stood out is because of the lesson it shows of the power of one person when the give hope to others. The question is that... if we can the world will future generations follow in our footsteps or will they did what we did to the world? This videos teaches valuable life lessons on teamwork, hope, strength, judging people and the power of one simple task. These lesson matter because if we can do them the world might become a better place for future generation to grow in. This video shows heart, pride, hope and is inspiring.
In "Dear Future Generations: Sorry," there were three things that stood out. That we have put ourself over humanity, greed over need, gold over the golden rule, and profit over people. This point that we would rather have materialistic objects over our based needs. That we destroy 40 football fields worth of trees a minute. This statics is shocking because with that rate we won't have trees left for much longer. The phrase the greater says "truth can be denied. But not avoided." this point stood out because it was honest. He was being honest about how we were destroying our world and we have denied it and tried to avoided it, but look where that has gotten us. We now know that we can not avoided the truth because we are living in the effects of the avoided. My question for this video is... How long could we live in this world if we did not try to fix our mistakes of how we have treated our world? The video is teaching us that we are destroying our world and the future generation will not have a world to live in or the will have the weight of fixing past generation mistakes on their little shoulders. This video purvey's a guiltily feeling, guilty of how we let this happen, how we have not doe anything to fix it.
You showed the Danny MacAskill video to show us that we can do what we love and have passion for. His riding also never give up on your dreams. His skills shows that he had kept practicing a progressing his skills and has made a career out of he loves.

  24. In the video “Dear future Generations: Sorry” Prince Ea speaks about humans effect on the Earth. He apologizes to the younger generations about what the past and older generations have done that we now have to fix. Prince Ea pointed out how every single day we chop down trees and due to that luscious rainforests turn into arid deserts. To me, this is devastating because when a rainforest gets destroyed, it isn’t only trees that are being harmed. The rainforest is home to so many animals and when humans destroy their habitat they will experience difficulty surviving. Prince Ea also pointed out why humans do such things without even thinking twice about it. Money. Most humans will do anything to get their paycheck even if it means endangering animals, chopping down the very things that let us breathe, or slowly destroying our planet and put the weight of saving it on the shoulders of young adults. In another video named, “If You Want to Change the World…” a decorated member of the U.S. military, William H. McRaven, speaks on how one can change the world. He says, “If you want to change the world, start the off the day by making your bed,”. McRaven’s reasoning behind this is that it starts off the day with one task completed, which will lead to more tasks completed throughout the day. He also brings up the idea that if one does start off their day by making their bed and they still have a bad day, they will at least come home to a made bed. This part stood out to me because whether I have had a bad day or a great day, I always love coming home to a made bed to get into. William H. McRaven also spoke on some different matters. A thought that he brought up was measure a person by the size of their heart and not the size of their flippers. This basically means that it doesn’t matter what size you are or where you come from as long as you work hard. In the last video, “Danny Macaskill - Inspired Bicycles” there are a couple of ideas conveyed. First, the video represented how one cannot give up. Macaskill could not do much at the beginning of the video and he continually fell off the fence when he tried to ride his bike on it. Even though he continued to fail, he persevered and eventually was able to ride his bike over the top of the very thin fence. Another idea brought up in the video is to always work hard. Danny Macaskill was very good at doing tricks on his bicycle throughout the entire video but as the video went on his skills progressed and became more complex. For example, he started by just riding his bike up a tree trunk and back down at the beginning of the video. Later in the video though, he was able to do a backflip off of the tree trunk on his bike. I think that this video can teach everyone that if you are really passionate about something all you have to do is work hard and don’t give up to progress your skills.

  25. After watching these videos in class, I have gained a lot of knowledge. The two videos that resonated with me the most were "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" and "Can We Auto-Correct Humanity,” both by Prince Ea. These two videos made me feel extremely guilty for the earth we live on, and make me want to be more aware of my actions, and how they affect things other than myself. These videos show how our actions affect the planet around us, and our future generations. In the video "Dear Future Generations: Sorry," Prince Ea states that "I am so sorry to tell you that we burned them down, cut them down with brutal machines... 50% of all trees in the world, gone in the last hundred years." He also says that he is sorry that we left you with a mess of a planet, didn’t do anything, trees do everything - sorry there are no more trees, sorry about everything. This is extremely powerful, although this video is talking about something as simple as trees. It hits hard to know that how much of what we do in our everyday life, is going to affect our future generations. The use of the word “sorry” in the video, is used to emphasize the fact that some things we are doing to our planet are wrong or bad, but we can do something about it, so the world doesn't end up with no trees in 50 years. The 2nd video that resonated with me was "Can We Auto-Correct Humanity.” This video explained the effects of technology in society. The video emphasizes how bad technology is to our social lives and how important it is, that we put profit before people. It is very sad that the majority of people, spend more time on their cell phones or social media, instead of spending time with real people. The images, language, and tone in these videos are very important because they help get the point across. I learned so many things from these videos, and hope when others watch, they feel the same reaction.

Danny Macaskill is just a man, alone, with his bicycle. His amazing bicycle tricks were very inspiring because he just kept trying and never gave up even things were hard. I would describe Danny as a risk taker. He has grit, determination, and wants to pursue his dreams. I admire his hard work even on challenging paths. Not only can we learn these things about Danny, we can also learn about patience. Danny’s patience is represented when he is trying to go on hard courses/paths with his bike, and doesn’t get frustrated, he just keeps trying. I am passionate about dancing, and I need to have all of these qualities when going to dance class because that’s the only way I can get better. I thank Danny Macaskill for inspiring me to keep trying when things get hard, love my sport, and have patience.

  26. After watching these four videos in class, two of them that stuck with me the most were "Dear Future Generations, Sorry" by Prince Ea, and "If you Want to Change The World" by U.S. Navy Admiral William H. McRaven. In "Dear Future Generations, Sorry", Prince Ea really opened my eyes about what humans are doing to the world and how fast the Earth as we know it can change. One part of his video that really stuck to me was when he was telling future generations about the Amazon Rainforest, and how beautiful it was, and how amazing trees were for the earth. The reason he was saying this was because we had cut down or burned all the trees on the planet and future generations had no idea what trees were or what they did. Another thing that stuck with me was that in the middle of the video, Prince Ea stopped and said, "Actually, I'm not sorry", and he said this because he realises that there are still things that humans can do to save the earth. The last thing that really stuck with me is when Prince Ea said that humans do all this for money. It's pretty sad because it's really saying that we're destroying our own home just so we can make an extra dollar or two.

The other video that really stuck with me was "If you Want to Change The World". This video stuck with me because U.S. Navy Admiral McRaven talks about his Navy Seal training, and how every veteran really had to push through every single day to complete the training. At the very start of the video, McRaven says "If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day." This resonated with me because it's really simple tasks like making your bed or making breakfast that put people into a mindset of change. If someone completes a task, they will want to take on another, then another, and so on. Another part of the video that stuck with me was when McRaven said that if you do have a bad day you'll always have a made bed to arrive home to. This was important to me because it's somewhat a metaphor, that if you have completed things to change the world and you have a bad day or something bad happens, you will always have the pride of your change in the world to bounce off of. One more point that stuck with me was when Admiral McRaven was talking about the 9th week of Seal training, nicknamed "Hell Week". He goes on to say that this week is 6 days of no sleep, and constant mental and physical harassment. McRaven goes on to tell the story of the Wednesday of "Hell Week", where the Seal students have to spend 15 hours in the Mud Flats, combating freezing temperatures and the constant harassment from the instructors, telling them to quit. He says that the instructors would let the students out of the mud if only 5 students quit, but nobody did. McRaven show us that Hope is what changes the world, and Hope is what keeps people going in life.

In Danny Macaskill's video "Inspired Bicycles", his riding skills and his perseverance teach us a lot about ourselves. In the beginning of the video it shows him trying to go a trick, and he messes up a few times before he finally gets it. This presents that perseverance is very important in day to day life. Danny didn't just go to that one spot and try the trick once, he tried it until he got it. This is an example of "hard work pays off". He really shows us that perseverance is important if you want to be successful in life.

  27. In If You Want to Change the World start off by making your bed and Dear future generation: sorry it Prince Ea made me realize how messed up the world is right now, and as humans we made the mistake and we can fix it. What really got me was the oceans were full of trash and i felt so sorry for those kids who were drinking the water and the fish and birds dying because of the plastic being thrown into the water, and dissolving into little particles if scrap. But if anyone realized in the middle of the video Prince Ea said "Actually, i'm not sorry" Because he knows that if we made the mess than we take part in cleaning it up. " Forget about the money, I dont need money to make the world a better place. " He says this proving that life doesn't need money to be fixed...Life needs money to be healed again, to grow better trees, to make cleaner oceans, to save lives.

The next video that got to me was " If you wanna change the world ". U.S. Navy Admiral McRaven Tells people about his Navy Experience he claims that: " If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every day, you will have accomplished the first task of the day ". And as he keeps going on " If and when you accomplish that task you will have more confidence to do more tasks again and again and again and so on. One part of the video that made me laugh was when he said " If you have had a bad day, at least you come home to a bed made ". One more point that stuck with me was when Admiral McRaven was talking about the 9th week of Seal training, named "Hell Week". He says that this week is 6 days of no sleep, and constant mental and physical harassment of the training course. McRaven tells that every wednesday Seal students would have to wear mud flaps for 15 hours straight, during freezing temperatures and constant harassment of the intruscors telling them to quit. He says the instructors would let them quit if 5 of them left, but no one volunteered to leave. McRaven shows us how people change the world along with Hope, and people encouraging Hope keep the people struggling to keep going in life.

The last Video was Danny Macaskill's video "Inspired Bicycles", Riding skills and his endurance teach us kids and adults alot about our character. In the video the first 45 secs it shows him failing before he succeeds towards the end. This proves to be one of the most confident people i have ever seen in my life. Danny never sat in one spot and did the trick, he was all over the place doing tricks of his own, and did it day by day. "Hard work pays off" This comment shows us that hope and perseverance is important if we wanna become something special later on in life and in our community.

  28. In the video, "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" Prince EA gives a lecture about how our future generations won't understand the true good in the world and how the earth is a beautiful place because of the actions we make today. A point that really stood out to me are when Prince EA said, "I'm sorry that we paid so much attention to isis and very little to how fast the ice is melting in the Arctic," this was important to me because both of these things are important and they both need to be addressed but if isis comes and places a terrorist attack on us and we are only focused on the ice there won't be many people to pay attention to the Arctic anymore. Another thing that stands out to me is when Prince EA said, "But most of all I'm sorry about our mindset cuz we had the nerve to cause this destruction," and "Sorry, we poison the ocean so much that you can't even swim in them." These points matter because they are really helping you learn about what we are doing. They make you think about the bigger picture and what we are doing to our environment and how we aren't paying attention to the important things going on.

On the other hand, Prince EA made a video called, "Can We Auto-Correct Humanity" and it has many great points on how we don't pay attention to anything at all because our eyes are glued to our technology."Friendships are more broken then the screens on our very phones..." Prince EA once said. I think this is very important because it's right. One ugly picture of your friend could be posted and you guy may never talk again because the guy she liked commented on it or it was the post with the highest amount of likes. Relating to something else Prince EA said in that video, "...we sit at home on our computers measuring self-worth by the number of followers and likes." This is also important because its true. Kids feel like your amount of followers is the number of people that like you so when they're looking through their friend's profiles and see they have more you feel like the world is coming to an end. The last point that really stands out to me is, "Call me crazy but I imagine a world where we smile when we have low batteries because that'll mean we are one bar closer to humanity." This really makes me understand the how wrong it is that we are always stuck to our phones. This quotes really wraps up the whole video and gives it all meaning. I feel like the video wouldn't be as important without this final quote.

"Inspired Bicycles" is a very inspirational video that we can take a lot away from. Danny Macaskill followed his dreams and is now being paid to travel the world and do what he loves. Any viewer can become inspired to follow their dreams by just watching one video and making a plan of action. We as viewers can learn to do things in their own lives from the determination and grit Danny puts into his skills. Practice makes perfect applies a lot here because if Danny Macaskill didn't try he never would have made it as far as he is today. It is impressive and inspiring what Danny does today because when he was younger he could probably barely ride up a hill but now he is riding his bike down-stairs and up 14ers'.

  29. The two videos that stood out to me the most were dear future generation: sorry and if you want to change the world. The dear future generations video he talks about how we cut down so many trees every minute for money. He talks about how trees are very important, he tells us how we breathe the air they create, how they clean up the air around us, how they give us medicines that cure diseases, how they store and purify water. He apologizes about how we had the nerve to call this destruction progress. Then at the end of the video he tells us a way we can help save the trees, he encourages us to help save the trees. The other video that stood out to me was the if you want to change the world video. In that video the guy that is giving the speech in the video tells us to start each day by making our beds so if we happened to have a bad day we would come home to a made bed a bed we made. He also said that when he was going through training that the little guys were faster then the big and tall guys. He also said that during the training they have to do a swim called the night swim where before they started the swim they would have to listen to the instructors tell them about all the different kinds of sharks that are in the water and if you come across a shark that is looking for a late night snack that you should not swim away, that instead you should stand your ground and punch it in the snout, I think that that would really hurt my hand. Why would they have to swim at night why couldn't they swim during the day instead? for the last video about the guy that rides his bicycle all over and does all these really cool tricks and that you showed us that video to show us that if we keep trying we will succeed and that we will have the feeling of satisfaction when we don't give up and we keep trying and that we shouldn't give up, that we should not give up on ourselves but that we should keep going and that we should never give up.
